One thing of note is that the Trump era has unironically third-worldized my conservative pro-Trump dad.

Just ruined a polling company’s sample by indicating that I was a young non-Italian white evangelical Christian who identifies as “somewhat liberal” and wants progressive policies, but finds candidate messages on progressive policies insincere. Also I live in New Jersey again.

unironically Democrats should hit hard on Trump’s pardons, and link it to crime, say he pardoned thousands of criminals, some of whom were copkillers and child-diddlers. Probably would be unpopular with a lot of leftwing folk on here though

This works and all if you forget that the current system is proportional allocation

Democratic politicians and activists are quietly lobbying to upend the way the party picks its presidential nominee by urging the use of ranked-choice voting.
Scoop: Democrats eye ranked-choice voting for 2028 primaries
It's a tool that drew national attention when it propelled New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani to a decisive primary win.

I think the fact that Bill + Hillary Clinton, Gore, Kerry and Obama were much further personally left than publicly politically has led a lot of leftfolk to assume that every politician is to the left of what they say, and they’re running against a wall now that that is no longer true

You, broke: opposes PE in healthcare bc it hurts le workers

Me, woke: supports PE in healthcare bc it proletarianizes the petty burgher doctor class and brings us closer, not further, to the necessary conditions for social-communism

Need Graham Platner to have another Nazi scandal. I have a great thotpoast in the works but it needs him to be at least marginally relevant which hasn’t happened in a while

Going to pause on my typical lawyer hating to note that, while economists are right on most topics, they have a laughably idiotic and childish understanding of “insider trading” and that is one of the few places where lawyers are genuinely more correct than their detractors

You ever see a good but not-exactly-useful piece of legislation on govtrack and think “haha, probably a silly backbencher New Dem who made it” and then get whiplashed by “Introduced by Rep. Miller, Carol D (R-WV01)”

excluding no-votes, I’m pretty sure the most common voting history with a party change starting at Bush 2004 is Bush-Obama-Obama-Clinton-Biden-Harris and Bush-Obama-Romney-Trump-Trump-Trump
