Or just somewhat challenged?” Platner wrote back. “When a servicemember calls up the IG or CID and says ‘my commanding officer raped me’, if you think some [captain or major] is getting out of that because of ‘influence’ you need to frankly grow the f--- up.” He continued his argument in another comment. “Every current student I go to school with is convinced all we did in the infantry is rape everyone, because they once watched ‘invisible war,’” a reference to a 2012 documentary about sexual assault in the military. “Now, since the grunts has no women, this is obviously untrue. Plus, (since living in DC) all you need to do is make ONE phone call and negate any a--hat who pretends he’s a unit commander. So sack the f--- up.”

Looked up this Open Doors organisation and… uh.

This seems to be such a weirdo thing to do. Like, what was the point? It’s not like you couldn’t just normally buy a Bible in the Communist Bloc. At least in Poland you absolutely could. Seems like some saviour complex.

With this new car he was able to carry more literature. Thereafter, the work of Open Doors continued to expand as it extended its network throughout Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. The name "Open Doors" referencing that of a welcoming group due to the doors being open at all times. He was responsible for smuggling millions of Bibles behind the Iron Curtain.

I mean, I can’t say how often this happens in practice, but there are usually some procedures to correct a birth certificate. E.g. in Norway the law about changing legal sex (lov om endring av juridisk kjønn, § 4) explicitly allows for such a thing to happen:
§ 4.Endring av juridisk kjønn for barn Barn som har fylt 16 år kan selv søke om endring av juridisk kjønn. Barn mellom 6 og 16 år må søke om endring av juridisk kjønn sammen med den eller de som har foreldreansvar for barnet. Dersom foreldre har felles foreldreansvar, men søknaden fremmes sammen med bare en av dem, kan det juridiske kjønnet likevel endres dersom dette er til barnets beste. Søknad om endring av juridisk kjønn for barn under 6 år fremmes av den eller de som har foreldreansvar for barnet. Barn som er i stand til å danne seg egne synspunkter om det saken gjelder, skal informeres og gis mulighet til å uttale seg før søknaden fremmes. The writings of young trans men reveal a group of notably sensitive and clever people. The more of their accounts of gender dysphoria I’ve read, with their insightful descriptions of anxiety, dissociation, eating disorders, self-harm and self-hatred, the more I’ve wondered whether, if I’d been born 30 years later, I too might have tried to transition. The allure of escaping womanhood would have been huge. I struggled with severe OCD as a teenager. If I’d found community and sympathy online that I couldn’t find in my immediate environment, I believe I could have been persuaded to turn myself into the son my father had openly said he’d have preferred. When I read about the theory of gender identity, I remember how mentally sexless I felt in youth. I remember Colette’s description of herself as a ‘mental hermaphrodite’ and Simone de Beauvoir’s words: ‘It is perfectly natural for the future woman to feel indignant at the limitations posed upon her by her sex. The real question is not why she should reject them: the problem is rather to understand why she accepts them.’ As I didn’t have a realistic possibility of becoming a man back in the 1980s, it had to be books and music that got me through both my mental health issues and the sexualised scrutiny and judgement that sets so many girls to war against their bodies in their teens. Fortunately for me, I found my own sense of otherness, and my ambivalence about being a woman, reflected in the work of female writers and musicians who reassured me that, in spite of everything a sexist world tries to throw at the female-bodied, it’s fine not to feel pink, frilly and compliant inside your own head; it’s OK to feel confused, dark, both sexual and non-sexual, unsure of what or who you are.

Well, yes, they were ignored, because that's how the Roberts Court works. They decide what outcome they want the case to have, and then they work backwards to find a legal justification, no matter how flimsy. If necessary, they will just make shit up like when they gave Trump immunity.
This is not to say that the plaintiffs in Skrmetti would have prevailed if they had made originalist arguments. There is no way to know. But Frances Thompson left us an unflinching challenge to the false pretense that transition is a recent invention, that it requires modern medical legitimacy for its legality, and that transgender rights can only be an elite interest. Indeed, it was not lost on me, the coauthor of an amicus brief to the court submitted by U.S. historians, that our findings were entirely ignored, both in oral arguments and written opinions. Our brief detailed the long and uncontroversial history of transitioning sex through surgery and hormones is in this country and worldwide, refuting the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals’s core holding that they are “novel” and “experimental.” There is no doubt that the majority opinion and conservative concurrences would have had a difficult time confronting the facts of history. Skrmetti, like so many declarations about transgender youth, falsely asserts that minors were not medically transitioning until 1990, when they were in fact doing so at least three decades earlier, as our brief demonstrated. Yet the plaintiffs, and the liberal justices who dissented, ignored that fact too.

The plaintiffs in Skrmetti have argued that you can't ban medical transition while allowing the same procedures to be performed for cis purposes w/o necessarily discriminating on the basis of sex. ‘Transgender status’ was mentioned but wasn't even properly argued. Who is being argued against here??
Skrmetti has made painfully clear two things I have long argued, albeit for very different reasons: First, that the legal protection of transition cannot successfully be derived from medical expertise. Nor can it derive from the political invention of “transgender status,” which is vulnerable to judicial critique not just from conservatives but for its flagrant class antagonisms. Instead of clinging to a losing strategy, we must find the courage to engage the law on its own terms. We should not keep pressing for liberal transgender rights; we should wield the historical foundation of what Andrea Long Chu wisely calls “the right to change sex.” Far from something new, transition is a practice older than the United States, and people who transitioned have not been marginal to or excluded from the country’s legal and political institutions. In fact, the practice of transitioning sex shaped the constitutional guarantee of equal protection at issue in Skrmetti and other transgender cases. Fittingly, history brings us back to Tennessee.

Most trans gender abolitionists that I know are, in fact, raging transsexuals and ardent materialists. ‘Redistributing the means of transitioning sex’ and ‘liberation … from gender as such’ are complementary, not opposing goals. Who is this talking about in the first place? It feels like a strawman.
The paragon of transgender liberalism is the rejection of transition as what distinguishes transgender people from the rest of the population. Instead of political liberation taking the form of redistributing the means of transitioning sex, liberation would now be from gender as such—a proposition so abstract that it appeals to people who don’t transition, are afraid to, or who try to cope with how difficult it is by recasting their suffering as noble.
