I am interested in politics and world affairs. I am left leaning. I love nature, writing poetry and songs. I enjoy reading books and have piles of them I have read and piles to read. John Boyne my favourite author but love reading all sorts of books.
#ukpolitics I absolutely would defend the right of people to strike. But the junior Drs were given a 28% pay rise. All other public sector workers have also had their pay decreased in real terms over last decade. None of them got a 28% pay rise. Resident Drs are selfish and greedy to strike at Xmas.

#UKpolitics Of course ant-semitism is bad but we need to be clear that anti-semitism is about individual jews not Israel. Israel is a country like any other and therefore liable to criticism of it's actions. All racism is bad - judge a person on who they are not on their culture or religion.

Hatred and division is being stoked up in all western societies. Hatred + division breeds violence which leads to horrendous Bondi shootings.Hatred against muslims is being incited by far right groups.Hatred against Jews is being bred by extremist muslims.Time to stop the hatred - we are all humans.

As people on X are no doubt now tarnishing all muslims with the actions of two evil men they need to remember it was a muslim who saved lots of lives in the awful train stabbing in the UK at halloween and it was a muslim who disarmed one of the gunmen at Bondi. Both men were seriously injured.

#bbclaurak #trevorphillips We have heard nothing from Australia police or Govt about who is responsible for the killing on Bondi Beach or reasons for killings but both programmes this morning are already making their own assumptions and therefore creating more clamour on social media. Irresponsible.

#bbclaurak Just to make clear to the Reform representative on this programme sexual assault, rape and domestic violence is men from all backgrounds. When an England match is on and England lose, the rate of domestic violence goes up exponentially. She tried to to make it about immigrants of course!

#bbclaurak I cannot understand the argument about women's toilets. Male cleaners have been coming into women's toilets for years. I don't remember any outrage about this. Women's toilets have lockable doors for each toilet so why is there an issue over Trans women using them?

Biggest threat to western democracies is Donald Trump + Elon Musk.They are a bigger threat than Putin because America is meant to be an ally but is now moving into enemy status. He is doing everything he can to appease Putin. Musk is manipulating people to support white supremacy through X and AI.

While appeasing Trump has born fruit for the UK on tariffs it is getting to the stage that Starmer needs to stand up to him. Trump is causing chaos in the world and is without doubt casting Europe as America's enemy.Important for Starmer to stand up for Europe - our closest allies + trading partners

The problem Starmer has is that he is spending far too much time abroad.There are huge problems with the world (mostly brought on my Trump) but he seems to be dancing to Trump's tune so dropping everything when Trump has a supposed 'peace plan'!He needs to spend more time in UK where problems exist!

#bbclaurak I think Trevor Phillips needs to stop sticking up for Farage every week. It DOES matter what he was like when he was 16 because he is the same now!! He has to take responsibility for damage he did to people then. His anti Muslim rhetoric could quite easily spread to anti-semitism.

#bbclaurak #trevorphillips somebody on panel saying Reform represents middle ground politics was ridiculous. The majority of people in this country would still not vote Reform (75% against!) because they do represent far right policies. Look what is happening in America - far right dictatorship.

Looks like Farage is just creating a party of ex Tories. Not sure how that is going down with the country who hated the Tories for the mess they made of our public services + the country.Tories are toast so it isn't really a great coup to get them is it?Most Tory MPs are saying 'Gizza job' Nigel!

It sounds to me like EBU fudged the vote on whether to exclude Israel from Eurovision 26. There was no separate vote on it + they said we either reform the voting system or we exclude Israel. Both needed to be done especially as Israel seems to have a hold on Eurovision and they aren't in Europe!

Hasn't the main sponsor of Eurovision got significant links to Israel?If so they will never exclude Israel. If at least 10 European countries pull out then it will mean it won't be worth running and certainly not worth watching.Surely no country should be in Eurovision other than European countries?

Isn't it interesting that media + newspaper journalists start to get interested in Farage and his links to Russia + racism and almost immediately their bosses are telling them to try and bring the Chancellor down? The ridiculous clamour about a non lie from Reeves and no more coverage of Farage.....

@bma.org.uk I used to think Drs were wonderful but you going out on strike just before Christmas in a bad flu season is the most selfish thing i think I have ever heard. You got a big pay rise that other public sector workers didn't get. You are selfish and greedy and will be responsible for deaths.

In my lifetime I have never seen this level of aggressive journalism to try to unseat a Chancellor from press + media. Just had to turn off Jeremy Vine who was shouting at a minister. The only difference with this chancellor is that she is a woman. Misogyny unconscious or conscious. #Ukpolitics

I see @skynewsrss.bsky.social is still going on + on + on about Rachel Reeves misleading UK public. I can't watch this channel any more. At least on BBC they have moved on to something that isn't trying to manipulate public into believing the agenda of political analysts trying to bring down a Govt.

This morning there is a poll that says 67% of people in UK think that Labour broke a manifesto pledge with the budget. I wander why? Might it be to do with the right wing media and newspapers telling them over and over for the last week that the Govt broke a manifesto pledge?? Shoddy journalism.
