Into rail, stats, economics, basketball, dogs, YIMBYISM and normcore (no lightcone) EA. Sometimes wrong, always chugging along.
Sure but the coalition currently has over 70% of the seats in Congress apparently, the ANC needed the DA for a majority but for some reason they didn't stop there and just included almost every tiny 1% of the vote party they could. Which confuses me frankly.

I've seen everyone on here being against this ban, but I think I might actually be for it even though I'm pro marijuana legalization for this reason. The regulations and excise taxes on marijuana are important to me as a part of legalization and I really don't like how these products cheat those.

Yes they are the economically centrist party and also attract a lot of non Afrikaner voters as well. Probably who I would vote for if I lived in SA from what little I know. But for some reason they also let some other parties into the coalition including the far right Afrikaner party freedom front.

Also important to note that since last year South Africa has had a coalition government, and for the first time since the end of Apartheid the parties with a majority of Afrikaner voters are in power right now alongside the ANC. The view Trump has taken on this is deranged.

IMO it's very wrong to do this as part of your education, as it is cheating by giving an unfair advantage over other rule following students and a form of fraud.

Nothing wrong with doing it as part of a marketing campaign though. If you can do a better job with assistance from AI, use it.

The orthogonality thesis as applied to scheming masterminds.

It's very hard when one of the 8, Durbin, is the whip. He has to be removed from that position. This is much more tractable and less risky than any other option such as primaries.

Yes it has to go through cloture again apparently.

Angus King is not technically a Democrat. Though he is certainly subtweeting the others as well.

Schumer's a coward. Shaheen & co. soiled themselves. Yes, yes to all of it. But why don't Murkowski, Tillis, & company even get asked questions? Why do we have zero expectation of them? Journalists don't even bother trying. We have accepted Murc's Law as a constitutional provision. It's maddening.
These 5 people could caucus with the Democrats, giving them a majority & firmly opposing the fascism, any time. It might be nice for an enterprising journalist to ask them why they keep not doing this every day as the crimes & corruption continue & John Thune refuses to fulfill his oath of office.
🚨 The Senate votes 52-48 to overturn President Trump's 50 percent tariffs on Brazil. 5 GOP Senators break ranks to vote against Trump: Collins ME, McConnell KY, Murkowski AK, Paul KY, and Tillis NC.

Durbin who voted yes needs to be removed as whip, he can't stand for the Democrat caucus when he voted yes on this.
November 10, 2025 at 5:50 PM
The Senate Dems can remove him as whip for voting yes on the bill.
November 10, 2025 at 5:47 PM
The right person to target isn't Schumer it's Durbin as whip.

I appreciate this post for being about something that is not the government shutdown.

The focus needs to be on removing Durbin as whip.

It is the tractable and impactful measure right now.
November 10, 2025 at 4:24 PM
No focus on Durbin not Schumer.
November 10, 2025 at 4:15 PM
I didn't realize this! Damn.
November 10, 2025 at 4:15 PM
Another reason to not do this is that it makes people look like Angus King, the independent who was the ring leader of the surrender causes which the majority of Senate Dems opposed.
