I know it divides opinion but I prefer the remix
November 22, 2025 at 12:39 AM
Is that the remixed version?

Love this from a n Andy Kershaw radio session. They tried to record it for Poem of the River but ballsed it up apparently.

That one goes under the radar a bit. Bitter End is my favourite. Saw them at Dingwalls in London around the time it came out.

Which one?

Ian Dury had nothing to worry about

Even the 13 year old me recoiled at the time.

You forgot to mention the horror of being reminded of BA Robertson.

Really respect Bernard Butler. If you haven’t heard it already, I’d really recommend his guest spot on the Rockonteurs podcast from a few years ago.

I saw him at the same venue promoting “Hey, Mr Ferryman” with the full band including Bernard Butler and it was great of course.

Which one did you see? The most perplexing thing about the show in Sheffield is that he was really struggling to play the guitar in the first half. Lots of false starts and bum notes. But he seemed to settle and then that voice soared.
Is it an AMC career boxset?

AMC really struck a chord from ‘89 on. I saw ME in April. The first half of the show was painful but something magical happened mid show and the rest was mesmerising. He did at least half a dozen new songs so hoping for a new album soon.

Will go if they play Sheffield but due to old dog won’t be travelling far next year.

I bought the first album at the time after a rave review but never connected with it. Love AMC who I suppose you could say were working along similar lines.

Just have to wait 11 months for the next show in Sheffield.

Self conscious fool that I am, I always scan the room to see if I am the oldest there.

Yes, it’s a stop you in your tracks line.

Maximal Prince like U Got the Look is great fun but the groundbreaking stuff is when he strips it back like on the title track and If I Was Your Girlfriend.
