I've seen Threadgill with Zooid a couple times, but he hasn't been to Chicago since a reading from his memoir at Corbett vs. Dempsey in 2023. I was there, though, and I took a couple pictures. Threadgill is tremendously engaging and funny. And look at that smile!

Yesterday @offcolorbrewing.bsky.social released a collaboration with Brasserie de la Senne called Kuro and Kika Attaque!, named for the Belgian brewer’s two cats. It’s hoppy, dry, floral, funky, and delicious. You can get it at the Mousetrap!

Penelope Spheeris talked to @misterminsoo.bsky.social before a double feature of her first two Decline of Western Civilization docs at Thalia Hall. This event, organized by Chicago Reader staff writer @juggaloreporter.bsky.social, is also a fundraiser for the paper! chicagoreader.com/music/music-...

Lil throwback to an Xmas more than 40 years ago. I never would’ve stopped playing with Lego if it hadn’t got so damn expensive.

If you care about the survivability of music making in the streaming era, then read @lizpelly.bsky.social investigation into Spotify's Perfect Fit Content program. It's systematically farming stock music to populate playlists and divert royalties from real artists. harpers.org/archive/2025...

As proof of life, and to demonstrate that this brand-new account is in fact operated by a human, here is an extremely suspect holiday-themed liqueur I saw at Devon Market.
