Lifelong birder, avid Plym Estuary and Soar patch worker, occasional twitcher (more a marathon than a sprint) and enthusiastic foreign birder. Nothing beats finding a rarity!
Great White Egret at Dozmary Pool today. Also, at Siblyback Res, adult Yellow-legged Gull & c290 Redwings going east with 3 Fieldfares.

As part of a sort out old journals I have the following which are available for free if you fancy rehoming them:

Issues of Oryx from the late 80s & British Wildlife journal. I can provide dates if asked
If I don't get any takers they will go for recycling in the next week or so

What I of course, I should have also said, is a big thank you to all those involved in organising access to the Dove. I hope people donated generously and a good sum was collected for the IOS Wildlife Trust.
A vintage Scilly day on St Agnes on Friday. With the Mourning Dove (a great find by Keith P) in the bag by 9.30am, I enjoyed American Pipit, Spotted Sandpiper, Hoopoe, Turtle Dove & Arctic Warbler. Just like old times!

The Government has tabled 67 last-minute amendments to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill.‼️

Rushed through with little scrutiny, it’s a shambolic way to reform the planning system.

It creates confusion, sidelines science and leaves nature dangerously exposed.

That happened a bit quicker than expected but the main body of Langmere at East Wretham Heath is now dry. With these unusual water bodies filled by the water table it's hard to know when it might fill again. Last time it was April when it started filling but could be longer. #NorfolkBirding

Well just about the worst photo I’ve posted here (& that’s saying something) but I’m celebrating my 200th species at my Plym Estuary & Saltram patch (thanks Dave). Part of, but hopefully not the end of, an excellent recent run here.

Ok sorry about the “record shots” but the first Glossy Ibis for the Plym Estuary- in and out before 8am on 16th May - was a red letter day for me.

Bottom trawling is also responsible for destroying a lot of the seabed habitats for fish, crabs and other marine life. It's time it is banned in the UK
