I too wish such measures were not needed, but we do need to ensure the safety of our city employees and elected officials. For what it’s worth, I was at City Hall this week to get a new health card and the new security protocols (metal detector/ bag screening) were not onerous.

We use this bridge regularly. It’s been a tremendous addition to our cycling network. Its value is clearly demonstrated by the fact that we’ve never been on it alone 🙂. If we could keep it open year round it would be perfect.

My riding is Ottawa Centre, predicted to be a safe Liberal seat, with the CPC in second and NDP in third place. I assume that the predictions are based on national trends and don’t take account of local conditions. We have a highly popular former local NDP MPP running, who is sure to be competitive.

If I remember correctly, damage is proportional to the cube of the axle weight, so damage goes up quickly with vehicle size.
