Minnesotans’ solidarity.. was forged in nature’s annual frigid grip and a bit of isolation; these connections are.. the carbon-steel fibers wound together by generations of consistent, need-blind aid to anyone that happens to be close by.
The Key to Minneapolis’s Successful ICE Resistance
The city’s rapid mobilization against ICE was aided greatly by a community with well-worn connections and a tradition of mutual aid. You can—and should—start building this resilience where you live.

Seriously, what can we do about the fascist now loose upon America?
We’re in a far more dangerous and violent stage of Trump’s regime. What should we do to stop it?

"Someday, we will tell our children about the month of January 2026 in world politics, and they will not be able to fathom what we did to ourselves. Nor will they ever be able to contemplate what the United States once meant to the world beyond."
We Are Witnessing the Self-Immolation of a Superpower

Always read Thomas. I would add that America is not one country. It’s a federation of states. Power is set against power. I don’t mean there’s a balance. I mean our structure provides opportunities for resistance if there is a will and desire for it.
I wrote about the limits of the authoritarian assault – and the need to push back against the idea that America is inevitably and irresistibly marching towards a Trump dictatorship.

Trump’s authoritarian desires are limitless. But his ability to impose them on America is not.

Resistance matters.
