One thing I’ve learned in social work: most of us are way closer to being unhoused than we think. A job loss, medical bill, divorce, or emergency and suddenly you’re sleeping in your car. Housing insecurity isn’t about bad choices… it's about being one crisis away from losing everything.

When protests and outrage don't have the same impact after 9 years, perhaps try humor and mockery?

We have to ask the unaskable. It will be too late if we don't.
What do we do when working within the system no longer works? This is the great and for many, unaskable, question looming above Washington on this dark, cold February night. open.substack.com/pub/davidrot...

I'm a slow processor. This helped.
I wrote about Israel and Palestine, but mostly I wrote about grief.

A reminder that you do not have to personally observe violent images in order to bear witness to history, and no one is under any obligation to do so as a means of activism or showing support.
Also, don’t watch atrocity videos. They are there to harm you. You do not have any sort of obligation to watch people suffer cruelty and people who tell you it’s your job to bear witness do not understand what they are saying.

Cool cool NYT just out here saying that a family that moved to a red state because people in Portland are homeless and do drugs is somehow equivalent to a family that moved to a blue state because IOWA OUTLAWED THEIR CHILD www.nytimes.com/2023/10/07/u...
Two Families Got Fed Up With Their States’ Politics. So They Moved Out.
The Nobles of Iowa moved to blue Minnesota. The Huckinses of Oregon moved to red Missouri. Their separate journeys, five weeks apart, illustrate the fracturing of America.

GOP learns the hard way: Turning the base up too high blows out your Speaker

Let's make sure that our President and Vice-President are always in separate locations until this Republican-led sh*tshow gets resolved.
