I would trade Pivetta in a heartbeat for a controllable piece. If he is the "Ace" going into the season they're cooked. He is a regression candidate or worse he gets hurt and opts in. Trade him, trade Morejon, trade anyone with an expiring contract or opt out.
Heyman: Padres are listening on Mason Miller and Nick Pivetta.

The asking price is high, and San Diego is still looking to add starting pitching.

The Atlantic seems to have an endless supply of people claiming to be socialist, leftist, or whatever the hell you want to call them who will happily write the dumbest thing you've ever heard. No, being pro-worker and having class solidarity doesn't mean you have to put up with racist BS.
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:
Why the Cinnabon Story Doesn’t Make Me Happy
The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

Currently my doctor is trying to turn his practice into a subscription based model. I am inundated with calls from him trying to get me to sign up and pay a monthly fee. I keep having to jump around from shitty doctor to shitty doctor. Only the rich get a choice, the rest of us deal.
Are you ok with rich people having access to the most expensive doctors and hospitals and you don't because the gov won't pay for it or they opted out of the Universal care program ?

Do you think it's right for doctors and nurses to only work for what they think is a living wage ?

Trade Morejon.
That Miller trade was so stupid. The whole trade deadline to be honest. Such a dumb GM.
solutions.

💬

@Alden_Gonzalez Padres manager Craig Stammen said they’ll keep Mason Miller, Adrian Morejón & David Morgan in the bullpen rather than converting them to starters.

“It’s a risky proposition health-wise and performance-wise,” Stammen said.

So, the Padres are very much in the market

I can't stop playing this album. Might be my favorite from this year. Love the dissonant jangly guitars.

I thought he was supposed to be better at communicating than Shildt? I will hate this man if he makes me miss the days Mike Shildt was manager. At least when he said stupid shit it was funny.

This, from Stammen on Tatis, says a lot

"Having seen him at his best, allows me to hopefully push him to be at his best and not take, you know some of the days where he's not like, maybe I'm going to take a day off today, but push him to be the best that he can be"

I would give him a full season in the Majors to see what he can do. He has yet to have a MLB manager believe in him. Yeah, he sucks at defense, didn't seem to keep Luis Arraez off of the field. Give him at least a real run as DH against LHP. 200+ ABs.

I am grateful I don't have to watch Tim Leiper run the padres into easy outs for the other team.

He used to work for McKinsey. He is used to playing both sides against the other. No scruples, just business, or in his case whatever gets him elected. His argument ignores that MAGA is purely identity based politics. They aren't voting for Trump because of policy. It's all identity.
This is a straightforward Republican attack line, what the fuck is he doing

Craig Stammen seems like the most mediocre dude. He seems like the guy at the office who finally gets promoted to be the boss after years of failed managers running everyone with any talent off and he still happens to get the job by default. Which I guess is essentially what happened.

Padres are truly a joke of an organization. Really feel for Niebla. I would be pissed if I were him. Years of experience, only to be surpassed Craig stammen of all people. Stammen must have been cheeaaaap.

Crazy the amount of people giving Darvish a hard time about this. Darvish didn't give himself that contract. He isn't the one controlling how much is spent. Him being injured is irrelevant. That's his money. It's his career. Hold the billionaire with plenty of money to spend accountable.
@SergioMQuintero retweeted
@JimRussellSD Few things, it wouldn’t have matter most likely because the offense sucked but choosing to start someone who needed elbow surgery in game 3 vs the Cubs over King is wild & second, Darvish not retiring hurts the #Padres next season because they’ll still

These people will do anything but provide free no conditions housing. Not a lot money to be made in that though. We are a cruel nation.
Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.

Really need to have a price cap on all ticket sales for all forms of entertainment, including the re-sell market. These prices are absurd. Going to any game, including the world series shouldn't be the equivalent of or more than a rent payment.

Fire preller and hire James Click.

Gonna go through weeks of speculation like the last time only for them to hire flaherty. Same thing happened last time everyone knew it was Shildt from the jump.
Funny how these articles get leaked every time a manager is fired or leaves and preller is like "I wanted so and so and they made me pick this guy." It's likely true, but also speaks to the disfunction between ownership, ceo, and baseball ops.
