A household of two people can't be expected to dedicate all hours of their days to the economy and still have enough energy and will to live (measured in leisure time and superfluous income) to raise a family of four.

Now, obviously the solution isn't to go back and take away women's rights (like some people actually do want). The solution is to raise wages to a point where a household can survive off of a single income again, split whichever way the people decide.

Now we're in the situation, where costs (mostly rents) have risen so much in so short a time, that households can barely afford them, with both parties working.
We've re-aquired the status quo, poverty, just that now both parties in the household work full-time.

Nobody left to do the chores.

A household used to survive on just the man's income. After emancipation, it had a bonus income from the woman's side.
With costs increasing, while the wages stagnated, the households got used to the extra income from the women's work until costs absorbed it completely.

But due to their emancipation, they're now expected to also work.
Recognizing that, typically, men and women will share a household, the moneyed class realized they could effectively lower wages (raise them less over a period of time). Because now a household had two full time earners.
