Wow, a stunning photo of Yukio Mishima standing in front of a poster of his film, Patriotism or the Rite of Love and Death! An imported 35mm print of the Mishima's film screens with Koji Wakamatsu's The Woman Who Wanted to Die at the Japan Society in NYC on 12/12!

Rest in power, Tatsuya Nakadai 💙 We love Nakadai in all of the Kurosawa and Kobayashi's films, and thinking of Kobayashi, it's difficult at this sad moment to not want to watch Harakiri just for his performance.

So glad that the Knoxville Museum of Art has finally dedicated a room to the work of the Knoxville Seven: Kermit Ewing, Carl Sublett, Walter Stevens, Robert Birdwell, Joanne Higgs, Richard Clarke, and Phillip Nichols! Brilliant abstract expressionism.

This is the last weekend of the exhibit at the Knoxville Museum of Art that celebrates the legacy of Alfred and Jane West Clauss, and we must take this moment to say how much we've always admired these wartime posters that Alfred created!

It's quite the creepy watch, @jeremywhitley.bsky.social, and worth hunting down for sure! Unlike the sexy Jean Rollin films from that era, Litan and a few other French horror films of that era were really going for something different. Also, dig this poster!

Much love, respect, and thanks to all of the folks who put together this year's Nashville Comic Arts Festival! We had too many fantastic conversations with attendees, creators, and organizers to list here! You all set a standard. Cheers!

We're thrilled that AFI FEST Guest Artistic Director Guillermo del Toro programmed Fellini's Casanova for this year's festival! Love that film! Here is Generoso at Cinecittà a few years back proudly posing with "the head."

Riposa in pace, Signora Cardinale 💙 Considering the grand films she starred in from 8½ to Il Gattopardo to Fitzcarraldo, it's odd that we're thinking of her work in Comencini's La ragazza di Bube right now, but even in that modest sad film she gives it her all and her all was epic! Grazie, Claudia!

We've been working on the new comic late into the wee hours every night for the last couple of months, but this weekend, Lily carved out some time to build and paint a birdhouse dedicated to the late David Thomas of Pere Ubu who passed back in April. The birdies are singing!

We had a grand time @smallpressexpo.bsky.social and in DC last weekend! Got to town early to hit the National Gallery and the Hirshhorn (finally saw Bradford's Pickett's Charge)! Met awesome creators at SPX, and we were thrilled to see Julia Gfrörer win the Ignatz for Outstanding Collection!

Caught a fabulous screening tonight of Kubrick's finest film, and the theater manager matched our enthusiasm by giving us this groovy sticker, which we'll cherish forever! For real. That was really sweet!

After reading the TCJ article on "Comics and the atomic bomb from 1945 to 1955" on Thursday, we serendipitously found this atomic age classic from The Rebels Quartet at our local thrift store today!
