We have an "UNBELIEVABLE AMOUNT" of MICROPLASTIC IN OUR BRAIN: like a PLASTIC SPOON IN OUR HEAD correlated to DEMENTIA: www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/t... RESEARCH PAPER www.nature.com/articles/s41... No one says "THERE'S A BUNCH OF PLASTIC IN MY BRAIN & I'M TOTALLY COOL WITH THAT."
The Human Brain May Contain as Much as a Spoon's Worth of Microplastics, New Research Suggests
The amount of microplastics in the human brain appears to be increasing over time: Concentrations rose by roughly 50 percent between 2016 and 2024, according to a new study

Microplastics causing inflammation, not surprised
Furthermore, they found significant correlations between higher levels of microplastics and higher levels of fibrinogen, a marker for clotting, and C-reactive protein, a marker for inflammation.

Plastic actively affects a #river system, it is not passive! 📿

I wrote a feature article on our research for #Geoscientist in 2023 on “The peculiar processes of #plastic riddled #riverbeds”. We are still learning the extent of plastics #environmental impact. 🌍

Studies in mice show that the microplastic particles we all have in our blood are eaten by immune cells, which can then get stuck in brain blood vessel tight corners and cause a pileup. I recently stopped reusing plastic bottles and switched to glass for leftovers.
Microplastics in the bloodstream can induce cerebral thrombosis by causing cell obstruction and lead to neurobehavioral abnormalities
