Tonight’s loaf parts on the side.
A baked and cooling loaf of bread sits on a rack; it has been brushed with butter so it shines. The bread has a slash down the top which is decidedly off center, making the domes of the top of the loaf look like a neat hairstyle that parts on the left.

Started green, then went deep red. Absolutely the best aurora show I’ve seen in the 20+ years living here - even without the camera enhancing everything. Northwestern Massachusetts.

My family likes its stews the way it likes its friends: full of beans and a little spicy. 🧑‍🍳

Can't believe that I missed that Ace Frehley died. RIP to the only member of KISS who was in it to make music after about 1983, IMHO. It was cool seeing you as my first concert when I was 4 years old.

Brought my knitting 🧶 to both the June 1 and today’s rallies, and am still kicking myself that I didn’t have a ‘Mme Defarge In Training’ sign or button to wear. Admittedly, the character Dickens wrote is not nice, but the visual of knitting next to the guillotine is potent. Vive la Resistance!

Plant-based Sausage rolls using NatsWhatIReckon’s recipe, vegan puff pastry from the fridge case and a tube of Impossible Sausage for the ground pork. F🎺in’ delicious! My lunch is set for a week.

My ceramic-top stove is a convenient flat surface when it’s not on… except when you push something to the back and it bumps a burner on to High.

Pretty sure this voids the warranty on my Instant Pot.

Came across Kurt Vonnegut in my travels today and it resonated; he was speaking of the joy of Buying One Envelope:

Love the Fried Rice recipe from #WoksOfLife, it can never bring myself to scramble my eggs in with it. Fried Egg on Rice is one of life’s true little pleasures and I take every opportunity to have it.
Vegetable fried rice with a rich brown color is presented in a white bowl: vegetables include carrots, broccoli, cabbage, leek and red pepper, all from our farm share. Nearing the end of grilled pizza season (the cook gets cold and it’s dark!) but these are poss some of the best I’ve made so far. #KingArthurFlour grilled pizza recipe makes a crust that is just how we like it - stretchy, chewy, a little crispy. Grilling it offers a hint of scorch. NOM.
Pizza on the grill - King Arthur Flour’s Grilled Pizza dough, with a homemade roasted tomato and garlic sauce, red pepper from the farm, mushrooms, Italian sausage, and fresh mozz. This batch had a little more scorch than I usually like, (I left it on the hot side a bit longer than I should have) but overall very satisfying. Three pizzas cooking on the grill against a background of full night. The pizza was delicious, despite having to cook in the sort of dark.

Pretty proud of this soup and sandwich, given that it is 100% from scratch. Fresh farm share tomatoes and carrots, with a chiffonade of basil from the garden, and homemade (sadly over-proofed but still delicious) wheat bread grilled with local cheddar. NOM. #breadsky #FarmFood

Tomatoes sliced thick, bacon cooked in the oven for even crispness, mayo on both slices, and crunchy green leaf/cos lettuce. A seasonal delight that only happens when the tomatoes are grown to full ripeness. I can’t eat them any other time of year. NOM. #breadsky #FuckYeahTomaotes
A tall and lofty loaf of bread shown end-on, cooling on a rack next to a bread pan. It is a lovely golden color and well-domed on top. (Recipe is Japanese Milk Bread from King Arthur Flour) The previous loaf, sliced on the cutting board with bread knife and various cooking tools in frame. The bread is white with a mushroomed top and even crumb. Approximately 5 pounds of red slicing tomatoes on a blue mat. Next to it sits a half-pint of cherry tomatoes plus a few more from last week’s farm share in the bottom corner. The finished sandwich: a BLT on Japanese Milk Bread with mayo, thick sliced tomatoes (they’re pressed into the bread a bit) crisp bacon and green leaf lettuce. I am heckin’ proud of this effort, and it was DELICIOUS.

Gorgeous day to PYO at the farm while collecting our CSA share. I was too preoccupied with enjoying to take many pics, but green beans, flowers, raspberries and edamame were a joy to pick. Can’t snivel at 5 lbs of tomatoes, either. Gonna need more bacon for BLTs.
A look at the Pick Your Own crop board with amounts listed. 1 quart raspberries, 1 bouquet flowers, one heaping quart green beans (we took advantage there - I heckin’ love green beans) one pint edamame in the pods, half pint cherry tomatoes (it’s a new row) and a quart of basil tops, which we skipped b/c we have about two pints of pesto in the freezer already. My choice for one series: Mystery Science Theater 3000. Since it came to my attention in the early 90's on the Comedy Channel, I have loved its quirky humor; it's my media equivalent of comfort food. Joel is pointing at it. In my head, the theme song has begun, and will remain on infinite loop until I dig out one of my bootlegged episodes and watch it.
