It has been pointed out to me that this means 2.5 billion-dollar AI music company Suno has spent less money on music than many individual music fans
Billboard got access to Suno’s investment pitch deck.

It revealed that Suno has spent $32 million on compute, and $2,000 on training data.

Let that sink in.

Tonight I got the director of Hackers (1994) to sign my copy of the novelisation and discovered it was the first time he'd ever signed one.

It was also the first time he'd ever seen one, and in fact the first time he found out it existed.

For PhD students working at the intersection of music and AI in any discipline, based *in and around London*, some last-minute slots have opened up for participation in an in-person seminar series hosted by QMUL’s Centre for Digital Music (C4DM) and run by Georgina Born’s MusAI project.

I had a wrestling match with mypy today. I finally turned to gpt-4.1 for help (it was really helpful). At the end of it all, when we finally got mypy to submit, gpt-4.1 celebrated our victory with this aphorism: "Remember: Static type checking is for you; you are not for it."

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act.

Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes?
Staffer: a DL and birth certificate.
Me: The documents don’t match
Staffer: Then a marriage certificate.
Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too?
Staffer: No
Me: See the problem?

In my best Tim Minchin voice: “only a non-nazi can call a Nazi “Nazi”.
The use of swastikas by critics of Elon Musk has put law enforcement in a bind, legal scholars said. But the question boils down to this: Is it a hate crime to use a swastika to denounce someone you think is a Nazi, instead of using it to express your own support for Nazis?
A Swastika, a Tesla and a Debate Over the Limits of Hate Crime Law
Is it a hate crime for people to draw a swastika on a Tesla if they believe Elon Musk is a Nazi?

20 Years ago I posted about the million song iPod. At that time, the enabling tech was Janus - Microsoft's DRM . Choice quote:

"I wouldn't be surprised if Apple decides to roll out their own subscription-based iTunes based upon their own DRM."
