so having the ability to revisit one of the most important relationships in my life with confidence (hint: myself) through art has been so fulfilling. im relearning to dream while im awake. my cup will never empty as long as i have a pencil at hand.

these two ideas (and the people they come from) have been so integral in my art journey, and ive realized how important it has been to revisit them, and others.

i feel more connected to myself when i draw/paint tbh. i haven’t been doing well in my own interpretation of my relationships/circles, —

congruently, ive been revisiting (ol’ pal) ahmed aldoori’s sketch tours as well. in one of them, he’s talking about “the necessary bad” in the process of making art, and warns against over polishing the golden egg.

i’m going back and rewatching my favorite art videos again too. iain mccaig’s sketchbook tour on THU is one that immediately puts me in the mood to draw.

he says at some point—“it doesn’t have to be anything.” the idea is freeing once you take it to heart & let your pencil & hand take the lead.
