I have to wonder the reason Sakurai‘s version of Marx looks so off is because he’s supposed to be wearing glasses in his base form. Maybe that’s why his eyes are unfocused.

I feel the more the Pikmin were anthropomorpnized and the more attention they got over the Captains, the original vibes of the series slowly started to be lost.

Same here I’m genuinely surprised an Episode like this actually exists for a 90’s Nick cartoon and handles the symbolism with a lot more tact then you’d think.

-fantastic games and tropical freeze was my second favorite game in the series before Bananza came out. But it feels weird to say that DK Jr. is the only Kong outside of the playable ones that they reference you know?

If I had a nickel for every time there was a Donkey Kong plot where he and his little buddy in red are tricked into manual labor by a capitalist Kong I would have two nickels which isn’t a lot but weird that it happened twice.

I love how they’re slightly embracing that Gooey is Dark Matter, like sure he can spawn a third eye out of nowhere now why not.

Tbf it really depends on the incarnation but it says a lot that the genuinely best version of him is the CDI one. King Daphnes is pretty cool too.

I think it’s so funny that OOT’s change in atmosphere and design was inspired from Banjo Kazooie of all games. Like it’s neat to see how important Banjo was at the time, but also how do you get from this to this

I’ve seen people try to say Cranky mentioning a guy in overalls doesn’t mean that he’s talking about Mario and he’s not the original, even though it’s clear that it was the intention with his character since the beginning of the series’s soft reboot.

I’ve said it on DKvine’s twitter but the Mickey Mouse comparison doesn’t hold water because it’s own spin offs also have a continuity one where you can easily piece together the whole story which led to one of the most celebrated books in that franchise.

I feel people forget that even pulling the Mickey connection out in terms of continuity doesn’t really work when the Disney Duck Comics had a pretty consistent and engaging lore, to the point that a book chronicling them and making sense out of them is so well remembered by its fans

That being said that’s the approach I’m going with this game, besides it does have legitimately interesting world building for the series regardless. Like these actually make sense now.

I think it’s funny that Bananza retroactively made the animal barrels make sense in the Donkey Kong lore.

That being said it’s a really coincidence that both final episodes of the show reveal that the traumatizing backstory of our main characters and how it recontextilizes the rest of the series.

The most obscure Banjo Kazooie Character I can think of, it's probably going to be Banjo's pet Lickatoad that he got in Nuts and bolts. This also strengthens the idea of Viva Pinata being part of the DKU.
