Both. Steady beam so I can see and blinky so others can see me. When riding in areas with no traffic blinky is turned off to preserve battery.

You can only ride one bike at a time. Therefore, only one bike is necessary. More bikes may be wanted but are not needed.

I work in a shopping centre and surprisingly am still alive. Centre management don't appear to have it on their play list.
