Those same people can’t see that their hard-earned $ are being spent on city services (to clean up the streets), police, jails/courts - and likely more that aren’t coming to mind just now.

But why didn’t we do this even before Trump? Because there is a large populace in the US that doesn’t want their “hard-earned $” to be “given away” to people who aren’t working. E.g., look at the recent discussions about adding even more job requirements for MedicAid recipients.

True for the long-term homeless. But if there is a “housing-first” system in place with social support services, the newly homeless have the chance to never have to live on the streets. Eventually, through attrition, living on the streets can be ended. (Just call me PollyAnna.)

Agree that it would need to be run by a NGO here as well, but we would also need the social services which are provided by taxpayers - i.e., government. Won’t happen here in my lifetime, sadly.

Also please tell anyone else you know about this stolen valor, and the fact that Trump is taking credit for something he tried to stop.

There is also the 10% duty which needs to be paid, I think by the customer though it's hard to decipher all the regulations!
This is outwith my control and has been set up by the US authorities.

This is due to the changes that come into effect on 29th August, where everything, no matter how small, is liable for import duty, and a flat rate from $80-200 can be applied. This will be charged to the sender by Royal Mail and needs to be paid to the US customs.
