If it comes to tearing up an alliance with the US, on whom our full defence capability still rests, we will have to deal with it.
Once we commit to backing Ukraine militarily, we must see it through to whatever end, including our troops facing war and death.

Today’s UK Defence statement is a comfort & a worry. Comfort in that our Govt and the opposition talk in conciliatory and collaborative ways. In my view, we edge nearer to a wartime footing by choosing to transfer soft power the international devt aid budget to UK defence. We are European.

JD Vance is such a loser. He hates the truth and all who espouses fact and decency. We don’t need the USA. We and Europe need to wean ourselves off the US in the same way we weaned ourselves off Russia.

Chris Mason @BBC is on a biased anti Labour war path based on last night’s piece on Rachel Reeves. He had the nerve to go on air and claim it is his “duty to report nuance” (lack of evidence) to make a mockery of BBC journalism. Shame on him. He should go to his new spiritual home at GB News.

Europe threw Ukraine under the bus three years ago when we limited their weapons capability and range. We are to blame for Ukraine not winning and should start thinking faster, more creatively about how to help them end this. Trump has made this all the more harder. Do we want Putin on our doorstep?

Unsurprisingly, inflation in the US starts its climb. Quickly. The price of eggs (avian flu aside) has risen by 15%. How much patience is Trump expecting of those who voted for him? When will they show him the door?
