Dark poetess & author of murder, whimsy, and forbidden desires. Spinning shadows, seduction, and fierce truths into words that linger like a kiss—or a knife
It’s in my top 10! I actually had a friend ask me for book recs today and I mentioned this. Thankfully, he got it! It’s one of a kind. I wasn’t aware until like a year ago that Du Maurier actually wrote The Birds too!

I’ve always been open minded and accepting of everyone. I enjoy and embrace the differences because in those we are able to learn and grow! But I do agree—many have become bogged down over time and no one caring that they become reclusive in a lot of ways. It’s so very sad.

You are a breath of fresh air! Same!!!!! Nobody ever knows what I’m talking about and if it’s not a TikTok trend or something techy they simply don’t care!! So I stay in my little shadowed bubble and maintain my time long lost!

Yes! And her short story, The Lottery is absolutely terrifying! Oh my gosh, Levin was a genius! All I’ve read of his is Rosemary’s Baby and The Stepford Wives! But he was also a true master!

You are speaking my language! Ray Milland!!!!!! This is a favorite! I grew up watching Turner Classic Movies—Hitchcock’s ‘Shadow of a Doubt’ with Joseph Cotton is a favorite! That film noir style was a true art! Not sure if you’ve read it, but another Jackson novel worth reading…

The movie was superb! When the sister reaches for her sisters hand and then realizes she was asleep? Oh my gosh! I did watch the series, and I enjoyed it, but it strayed too far off of the novel for my liking! I enjoyed it as a stand alone but I felt they lost the magic of the original.

I’m a huge Shirley Jackson fan! She is definitely an inspiration for many pieces of my writing. Thank you so much!
