What a lovely day! — Pantagleize

This is my substitute for pistol and ball. — Ishmael

Actual former civil servant. Defended the Constitution, then got P2025ed. Opinions expressed here are opinionated.
No doubt they said no. Knowing my friend who’s in tribal governance, I have no doubt that the tribes all either ignored the requests and slow-rolled ICE or their brokers until they gave up, or told them to fuck off with such dry humor that ICE didn’t even realize they should be offended.

As my kids would say, not with THAT attitude they won’t. May I suggest Joyce Vance’s book? It sounds like you could use a little boost. share.libbyapp.com/title/11710605

Any way she would take lessons from Orwell or other novels?

I see the focus on personal boundaries winning out over responsibility to other humans popping up in family caregiver forums. Desperate adult children looking for advice dealing with problematic parents are getting lots of reinforcement for walking away from them, as if we have actual safety nets.

Lots of folks would prefer not to give them clicks.

Exactly. They *thought* they were signing up for anti-trans and brown people policies. They didn’t think the rest of it would affect THEM, because they’re hardworking, Christian taxpayers and deserve all the goodies.

I’ve been booted from the redditsphere for using metaphors that the Almighty Algorithm didn’t understand, so I do understand the frustration of not being able to make your case to actual humans.

To clarify: the first round has to be filtered by tools, because there’s no realistic way to manage the volume. And then humans who quickly take a look and say, ah yes, oops, our bad. Sorry. (That “sorry” part is key.) Sounds like this was flagged with some particularly ironic timing.

Having played the role of official responder to outraged customers, a simple apology goes a long way. As a person who has been dicked around by asstd bureaucracies rather a lot lately, apologies seem to be nearly extinct. It adds insult to injury.

That’s the point.

Just finished your book and it was such a shot in the arm! Appreciate your skill in laying out the issues so clearly. As a fired civil servant and an American, I cannot wait to see the tyrant and his toadies face justice and lose relevance. “We must persist until we succeed.” — Joyce Vance

It’s almost like AI and algorithms are a HORRIBLE replacement for humans in roles like moderation, security, and customer service.

Such a badass. I wish I’d known you, Sharon. 💪 🌹

Silly me. “Bought” is not equal to “read”. WHEW!

ah. These people are (were) so vile.

Wait — I’ve read some of his emails. This throws that whole “writers are readers first” maxim into the blender.
