I once worked for a company that owned multiple nursing homes and reviewed resident’s charts. Most of them were extremely dependent on the staff for most activities of daily living and were often taking 10-15 meds/day. Who is going to provide care for them if they lose Medicaid? Heartbreaking!

Off topic but Hospice care needs to become more of a referral option for patients even in ICU…

It is a difficult conversation to initiate, especially in our death adverse culture and many patents/families don’t know there are palliative options. Thank you for your compassion and offering patients alternatives to painful interventions at EOL!
