I ordered some cards from Corey Johnston @coreyartusimagery.com that came in the mail today and they are as stunning as I expected. I can’t wait to send them to folks I love, after I’ve admired each one myself.

Happy Halloween! I put on my Maleficent dress, went to vote early in Virginia’s elections, and took the hound for a mosey.

I love your funny face!

Beautiful way to put it.
For those who need to see this:
Hold on. Reach out for help, don’t rob yourself of the beauty and opportunities to come. It does get better. The world is better off with you in it.

This is the Nimblewill we identified up on Beagle Ridge, and here’s another image from Picture This showing the leggy strands and less dense sprays along the stem.

It doesn’t say explicitly in the app but I wonder if it starts off small in clumps in the Spring and goes to these leggy strings in the Fall?

Was this the Obscuregrass?

My father-in-law was also a POW from WWII from the Battle of the Bulge. He was a very quiet and gentle man when I knew him, but sadly for his fighting and starving in a camp, half his sons are on the right side history, but the other half are choosing poorly.

Poor Willow had a rough day yesterday, aggravating her neck injury from July, with a trip to the ER Vet for assessment and more meds. She’s resting well today, moving better, no more whining or yelps of pain, and a little less shrimped up around her neck with muscle relaxers.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a movie in the theater either, definitely before 2020, but even then, also having anxiety hound means if I’m away from her it must be for an errand. 😔 Maleficent 2?
Happily she’s drugged and resting now.

To get a Flu & Covid shot this Fall, you will want to check eligibility per new FDA policy. In 13 locations, some being VA, DC, WV, PA, NC, etc. you need a Rx from your doctor to get the COVID shot at a large pharmacy chains, even if you do meet the new guidelines.

So cute!

Found a version of a primrose that was in some mixed seeds I sowed by the east wall of the house one night in late July. Sorry this bunny challenged you, but they were worth it.

Lastly to keep myself safe for pack out, I had to wear a mask to protect my respiratory system from the dust since there had been no rain, a jacket with full sleeves, & a hat to protect me from the sun b/c I am still on doxy for the sinus infection, which was all really hot. Willow on her way home.

Once back at Pennsic I spent most of my time MoLing 3 tournaments, hanging out in our comfortable camp, & resting as able. I got to court on Wed, did a little shopping on Thurs night, but I only really got Tues night, Wed, Thurs, and then we did some slow packing on Friday and pack out on Sat.

Of course by then a sinus infection I had been nursing for a while came info full bloom so while I was home with Willow I called my nurse and got seen for my own crud & then extended my stay at home for my own health. Instead of heading back on Saturday morning I didn’t go back until Tues morning.
August 12, 2025 at 5:55 PM
But then I went back home b/c Willow had been experiencing neck problems for a few weeks and while rest and meds had helped, I knew acupuncture would help more, but the first available appt was during Pennsic. So I came back home, got her from camp, took her to her appt, and let her rest at home.

We had to go for set up because our trucks and trailers haul the camp stuff in addition to our own personal stuff. Packing and set up weekend was brutally hot and humid, but we got there and set up eventually. Camp Vair and Ermine on Battle Rd.

I went to Pennsic and came home, and went to Pennsic and came home again. Here’s some Pennsic skies. An almost Full Moon rising between some tents on Friday night, and a sunset on the first weekend.

Willow has been dealing with some stuff. The thunderstorms lately have been heckin a lot, sometimes getting her Thundershirt deployed. But she also has some neck pain, likely a bulging disc, that’s making her uncomfortable & we’ve been trying to find the right course of meds & rest. Poor baby. 😢

It was some storm. Our rain gauge collected 2.5” quickly, and power was out for 11 hours. But we have portable generators if needed for longer outages. (Our backup house battery lasted until power returned so you can always visit us, Willow, our WiFi, and our ceiling fans.)

Before, After, the difference.

Since the late 90’s I’ve been cutting off my hair every ~4 years to donate, and my last donation was in the Fall of 2020. It’s a relief to not have the burden of so much hair, and I have an 18” braid to donate.
