They want you to know there is no cuddling happening here. Large cat is extremely territorial. Small cat doesn't give a shit

I've spent approximately 40% of the last 10 days in the woods. Need to find a way to make this a regular thing during at least 5 months of the year.

The last of the summery venison stew I made earlier this week. Deer shoulder, sweet corn, farro, poblanos from the garden, and foraged sulfur shelf/chicken of the woods mushrooms

Seeing double: Our resident greyhound in the purple harness and the new foster in the orange collar. Sniffing butts, as one does

Our greyhound was being bothered by flies in the back yard the other night and the neighbor cats thought it was great fun to watch her very long tail swing around

Pretty cool to see a flock of juvenile loons on a metro lake last night.

3) Our greyhound's tail is mostly healed after getting pinched in a storm door a month ago. At our weekly hound walk this morning, everyone was so kind and not grossed out at all by her maimed tail (good side pictured here)

It was a good week, despite all the terrible things: 1) We were invited to pick blueberries at a farm we used to purchase from but is now undergoing generational transition. The property is currently neglected but we had a lovely time and came home with lots of delicious fruit. Also met a new friend

One month ago our greyhound suffered a horrific tail injury. We were facing amputation but the vet supported our goal to work toward healing. Happy to report a healthy, full-length tail remains, however the opposite side is not so photogenic!

I have something like this (somewhere) and would love to send it to you if I can locate it. It was my grandma's. It's in better condition than the one in the pic but I don't think it has the elephant. Let me know if you're interested!

Really proud of this compost we made, ready to top dress our vegetable garden beds. Full of kitchen/garden scraps, weeds, dead leaves, shredded cardboard/brown paper, and the secret ingredient - spent coffee grounds from the shop at the end of the block.

I added onion, canela (Mexican cinnamon) and a half bottle of porter. The rhubarb definitely adds something but also you hardly know it's there. Served with braised escarole from the garden.
