somehow i did it: i cleared my email inbox, graded all the things, made my slides presentations for my classes, and i attended an online writing workshop--all after flying across country. going back in time helped give me the boost of space and energy.

Bay Area literary icon Amy Tan owns a large collection, including her personal journals, her correspondence with other writers, family photographs and book manuscripts. Now, Tan is allowing her archive to be housed at UC Berkeley’s Bancroft Library.

today my classes & i read poems by natalie diaz and joseph rios. we talked about land, memory, nostalgia, plus sampling & palimpsests as approaches to writing.

i also learned that "maps" by the yeah yeah yeahs is apparently trending on tik tok. i had no idea?? am i culturally relevant by accident?

today was a good teaching day. in one class, my students & i discussed an article about the psychology of friendship break-ups, and they had so much to share.

we talked communication, ghosting, loss, effort, expectations, trust, love, boundaries, & the science of it all.
