Cake is good, but pie is better. Visit physbryan.ca to see me write about old computer hardware, and youtube.com/physbryan for videos mostly about old PC gaming. I also like to run and ride my bike!
I just got an e-mail from PC Optimum saying that if I use their app, they'll give me a year-end wrap-up on my spending on groceries and drug store purchases. I hope we're getting closer to the low-point that leads us to the Star Trek future instead of a Cyberpunk future, but this doesn't help. 🫠

Random thought that I had today; "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters would make a really good Eurovision song. It's about the right length, has potential for choreography, and is incredibly catchy!

Sweet Jeebus, even MATLAB has Copilot now? I can write code that looks right but will break things horribly all by myself, thank you very much.

This trailer seems to get that Superman is a hero because he's Clark Kent, which is important to me in a story about this character. I am very excited, and can't wait until it comes out! www.youtube.com/watch?v=2woC...

There are still a lot of challenges ahead toward building a more fair, equitable Canada, but today I am just going to bask in the news that noted bully Pierre Polievre no longer has a seat in Parliament. Ahhhhhh....

I like using Linux Mint most of the time because it's incredibly stable and things just work, but man is it a bit of a hassle installing drivers for new hardware. I got a fancy new AMD graphics card, and had to jump through a few more hoops to get it working than I am used to these days!

I was super productive today in terms of editing video, and made another retro gaming video about The Magic Schoolbus Explores The Solar System! Ride along with me as I descend into madness during the terrible platforming sections. youtu.be/CUpdH0B_aMg

I got a chance to test out a retro PC motherboard/CPU/RAM combo that I bought this week! Come on by for 6 minutes of me farting around and seeing if it at least gets to the BIOS screen. youtu.be/Y0rd68b13Og

Today was a long day at work until almost 9:00 PM, followed by successfully resurrecting my spouse's dead laptop and usual chores. Time for me to flop into bed!

It's been a while, but I wrote a blog post about the 3dfx Voodoo 3! It's a card that is simultaneously a great performer, but also was the beginning of the end for 3dfx.

The newspost for today's Penny Arcade comic perfectly describes the Annoying Musk Acolyte:
"They're all subscribers to some political package that involves, somehow all together, adulation of Musk, crypto, free speech, AI and tech accelerationism, and Twitter as a kind of rhetorical Thunderdome."

I got some stickers for my retro PCs from Geekenspiel, and made a chill video following along as I put them on the cases. There's also bonus cat footage! youtu.be/fqX36M8O2Ws

I love using DaVinci Resolve to edit video in Windows, but in Linux trying to get it to import video is a real hassle. I spent over an hour with Handbrake trying to get clips into the right audio and video codecs, and still couldn't get a clip to be imported fully even though VP9+FLAC should work!

Uh-oh. One of my friends sent me a local FB Marketplace post with three joysticks, two racing wheels, and thirteen gamepads, all from the late 90s to early 2000s. Looks like I'll be testing a bunch of hardware soon!

I have a Bluesky account now! I'll try to post here a bit more frequently than I did on Twitter, but am not likely to set it up on my phone since I tend to be happier with fewer social media apps installed on there.
