Yesterday's news report on Irvine. It was only once documents were made public by investigative journalists that his supposed 'peace' role & character references that secured below minimum sentencing came to light.
At that point, PPS had no other choice than to appeal the below minimum sentence.

Why was half the minumum sentence given to a loyalist paramilitary? Why was this only increased yesterday to the minimum five years? Why were terror charges not brought or considered?
