I have too many hobbies but this page is dedicated to the plant collection one and occasionally the illustration one.

“AI is clearly sticking around so you have to get used to it” wrong. I don’t have to get used to shit. I am a practiced hater and I can keep this going for decades if I am required to

Philodendron fuzzy petiole. I'm finding that this one does not thrive in ambient conditions and is prone to pests. I removed every leaf and chopped it up last winter. Right is the bottom cut, grown in ambient, left is top and midcut propped in a cloche and growing in constant 70+ humidity.

Incredibly helpful flowchart to use in so many aspects of work and life.
I found a flowchart which helps you navigate the IT landscape

Plants I've been staring at lately:
A. wendlingeri, with the newest leaf looking gorgeous. It had a lot of shopping damage but is otherwise robust

H. stenophyla. I saw this plant cranking out leaves in the shop for weeeeeeks before purchasing and I'm in love with how weird and stringy it is

Gasteria gracilis variegata with some water stains and a bit of a sunburn. I think gasteria were one of my first obsessions when I first got into plant collecting. I have a couple varieties but not enough space to grow as many as catch my eye.

This terrarium is very dense these days. One of the jewel orchids in here perished but the other 2 are fine. The labisia is going crazy. A tiny begonia is blooming and the philo brandtiatum that I chucked in to salvage keeps putting out monster leaves. I will probably have to remove it

Another round of blooms from my h. krohniana silver (it's lost the silver and is barely splashy but looks distinct from my krohniana black leaf, with whom it shares a pot.)

My new cabinet is set up, I need to get some pegboards to hang mini orchids, finish sealing the door, and figure out some cable management!!

Hoya icensis. She's finally sizing up and getting that pretty black margin after months of slow growth. I think the roots finally started filling up the container - I got this plant as a 1 node prop with good roots and the very bottom of a long stem so I had to pot it up bigger than normal.

I got bit by the syngonium bug recently. So far my collection consists of a large and a small milk confetti, white butterfly, holly, albo, mojito, and chiapense "frosted heart". I think I'll get a dark one next to balance all the white and pink

After many hot dry weeks, we finally got some rain today so I let the pings out for a shower.

Restrepia augustilabia blooming in my terrarium. I'm really excited to see this bloom, when I bought it I half expected her to barely survive but I've been proven wrong! Love the super long petals and the freckles

Appreciation for H. sigillatis. Rosy toned leaves and lots of splash make this one a favorite in my collection.

More hoyas off the shelf for round one of sulfur treatment. H. icensis and eliptica, neither of which have put out much new growth in my care, presumably due to flat mites. Icensis is supposed to make big huge leaves so I'm hoping that the sulfur takes care of the mites.

I haven't pulled my Hoya pubicalyx off the shelf in a while. These leaves are amazing, and a testament to the shade tolerance of this species. It's in a shaded west facing window with relatively dim grow lights about 2 feet above it, and put out these giant leaves earlier in the spring.

Comparison of Hoya krohniana black leaf and H. krohniana splash/super silver

Hoya krohniana blooms! It's the last surviving piece of a super silver but it has minimal splash and cool dark edges from being close to my grow lights. It shares a pot with my H. krohniana "black leaf" which bloomed last year

My Hoya thompsonii is finally cozy enough in her pot to make some new incredibly hairy leaves 🐨

I have 2 flame violets (Episcia) and both are blooming!! I love the jagged edges on the dark-leaved one. What a cool genus, I would love to collect more of these

I ended up trellising my Hoya Mathilde splash, she's growing quickly!

New to the garden: an absolutely stunning overgrown terrarium purchased for a steal from a very kind hobbyist downsizing his collection. I'm still finding new plants in here while I slowly chip away at pruning it, adding microfauna, and getting it ready for its next resident, my wife's gecko!

Natural sunlight on the Hoya shelf. There's a very brief time of year where the sun falls through a west facing window below a cedar canopy to illuminate my shelves for an hour or so, and it's rare that there are no rain clouds 🌦️
