Just watched TALK TO ME. The first global Australian movie I’ve ever seen with a lead that’s not white or Aboriginal. And it is fabulous! Not ‘girl moves to the country’ ‘outback murder’ tourism ad 🤮 A great Aussie movie that presents us as we are, for better or worse.

Used the WEAPONS formatting - which I absolutely love - for my latest script. I hope whoever reads it realises I’m not making it up. Can already see the ‘it’s not how it’s done’ coverage.

Positive self talk is important.
I remember someone telling me that we read everything we see from others with the voice our your head, so do yourself a favor and make sure it's a kind and curious voice.
I mean, sometimes she's mean to make me get things done, but she means well ; )

You can learn everything film school will teach you from these 3 books. The rest is practice makes perfect. Listen to your actors. Give them space, let them find their path to the performance. As a writer you place obstacles, as a director you only help actors around those obstacles when needed.
