Please keep extending the olive branch. Lean in. Build relationships with those that are different from you. I cannot tell you how valuable those relationships were to help me develop a more rounded viewpoint and leave the MAGA cult. Demonstrate to others that disagreeing doesn’t have to he vicious

As this National Day of Mourning commences, I realize that tomorrow is one of the very few days I am thankful that I am not in contact with my blood family.

What sucks about becoming an educator in my home town is I can no longer go to the store with no make up, baggy sweats, and a scrunchy in my hair.

The early elementary class I am student teaching in will get its 27th student after break. This student has a behavioral IEP. And people want to underfund education and blame it on teachers. And my city voted down building a new school.

Today one of my very normal, responsible teacher friends told me she was goth in the 90s and would sneak out of the house at night until her parents super glued her window shut. And that’s why I don’t freak out with my teenagers when they dress their age.

I am not opposed to conservative values. I am opposed to corruption, plutocracy, denying the poor an education, and forcing others to live according to your values, and using propaganda against migrants, teachers, journalists, doctors, and the LGBTQ. Beware the cultural revolution.
