Once again, this admin makes us all sick to our stomachs - This time... literally. 😷💩

CDC had to drastically cut back FoodNet surveillance because of funding cuts.

Deadly outbreaks from Listeria, Campylobacter & others are now harder to spot, putting millions at risk.
The CDC quietly scaled back a surveillance program for foodborne illnesses
As of July 1, a critical surveillance program is monitoring for only two pathogens instead of the usual eight.

If people are interested in learning about the ACIP and its decades of contributions to US vaccine policy successes, here’s a short 2014 piece I wrote in NEJM with Adel Mahmoud (timed with its 50th anniversary) www.nejm.org/doi/full/10....
A Half-Century of Prevention — The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices | NEJM
In 1964, after a vaccination program against polio, diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis began, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices was created to advise the U.S. government on vaccinati...

Why should *everyone* be concerned that all 17 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices were fired at the same time?
Because it's a slippery slope to losing our choice to protect our children and our families
💉 are one of the best tools to prevent disease. We need them available
Why are we so concerned that all 17 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) were fired at the same time?
✅ Loss of top-notch vaccine experts
✅ Unchecked power for 🧠🪱 to appoint grifters and charlatans who will make America sicker

I always knew the “vaccines cause autism” crowd used sketchy science.

But this is the second time I’ve looked into a super popular analysis, only to discover that they didn’t even have the data they claim to have.

Now I’m curious how much of this “research” is just straight up lies.
FACT CHECK:

This viral graph from twitter claims to *prove* vaccines cause autism.

But there's something fishy about the data! Let's dive in.

RFK Jr. says he’ll know what causes autism by September. Someone should tell him NIH—his own department—already funds $300 million per year in autism research, yielding hundreds of studies. Autism has been studied for decades and he’s claiming he will know the cause in 4 months?

Why do we like vaccines and water systems so much?

It used to be 50/50 whether your kid lived to be an adult. With 4 kids, 94% chance they wouldn't all make it.

Fun times. Maybe let's not do that again.

We don't have magic cures for diseases like measles. We have vaccines.

Goodnight friends. Get some rest.

This week trump canceled billions of dollars of COVID-19 funds sent via CDC to health departments, stating, “the COVID-19 pandemic is over, and HHS will no longer waste billions of taxpayer dollars responding to a non-existent pandemic…” Funds were not being wasted. That is a lie.
