Just been helping my daughter move to the great city of Peterborough. A pretty straightforward drive from Cambridge, but quite a different story by public transport.

Later today I'll be driving my father to a hospital appointment in Oxford, on the day that the city introduces a new congestion charge. However, unlike the abandoned Cambridge scheme, it's still possible to drive to or from almost anywhere in the city without paying the charge (Map: ‪Stephen Gower‬)

Voting closed at 8pm yesterday and no result has yet been declared. I suspect this means it's fairly close and there are lengthy discussions going on behind the scenes about whether particular emailed-in votes are in compliance with Rule 47(g)(iii)(1).

It does seem that there's a lot more graffiti in Cambridge now compared to a few years ago. I don't report it all to cambridge.gov.uk/report-graff... because that would be a full-time job, but I did report this one on Riverside after seeing a small child cycling past it.

Nationally the results project a towering Reform UK majority of 96 seats, with Labour reduced to just 90 seats, mostly in London and Merseyside, and the Conservatives in fourth place behind the Lib Dems

Here are the Cambridgeshire seat results from the More In Common MRP poll, which nationally projects an astonishing annihilation of both Labour and the Conservatives by Reform UK. The local results are similar to the recent YouGov MRP, except that Reform take Huntingdon.

Projected vote shares for the Cambridgeshire seats from YouGov's latest MRP. Labour holds Cambridge - though no doubt the Greens will be ecstatic to be 0.2% ahead of the Lib Dems. The LDs retain South Cambs by a mile, SNMC by a kilometer, and Ely & E Cambs by a hundred yards or so.
