The whittakers peanut slab is the best way to eat chocolate. If you ever get down to NZ they’re pretty much everywhere.

Started reading this book a while ago and gave it up but I’m warming to the idea about 40 years late

A blast from the past. A map of the English four letter words connected by one hamming distance neighbours. I used to breed words on this neutral network for fun.

After seeing @sinalana.bsky.social rule 105 figures, I thought, although I've surveyed all the ECA rules, perhaps I'd better take another look. Comparing rule 105 to rule 110, in terms of response to sexual recombination. Rule 105 does nothing to minimizes recombination load. Prob. not a class IV.

This is a model of the Niue island canoe. Niue is a small island with no beaches, so the boats have to be hand carried down the cliffs to the sea. The shape is very similar to a modern OC1 canoe. You can see how land transportation affects boat shape as both need to carried on shoulder to the sea.

Messing around with alternative steering systems. Foot operated horizontal ships wheel allowing me to move my body to port on a port tack (the ama will be on the port side). not sitting positions shown each depending on which tack I'm on.

I have two graphs, one is a bit more spikey than the other, I'm trying to figure out a better way of measuring this than just counting by eye. I tried fft and it didn't tell me much. I could use scipy find_peaks but tuning it seems a bit arbitrary. Any ideas? #alife

How would you measure the "functional " genome size? Do a mutational scan over the whole genome and cut anything above a certain W maybe 1/n. Any way, looks like I can stretch genome but that's not all! #Alife

I can also do arms race dynamics with my model. This is an old run, of the red queen being chased through genome space. Do you see Punctuated Equilibrium? perhaps it's in the eye of the beholder. I was also curious to see if the red queen has momentum, perhaps we could weigh her! #Alife

The effect of treatment on the sign and distance over which epistatic interactions occur. #Alife still not happy with the analysis but you can see the interaction distance between bits and the sign of the interactions change with treatment.
