It makes my heart of hearts glow that they took the time to make a hydrologically realistic river system showcasing some of the more interesting aspects of river hydrology

I hate to be someone with theories but I align with the one where he was an Isreali intelligence operative and the sexual abuse system was there to get leverage on people, but really they also wanted him to just dig his claws into everything

It’s mind-boggling to me just how many rich people and politicians had some kind of dealings with him, even incredibly benign dealings

Notably he got onto the whole "people use chatgpt for therapy and relationships" bit early and had some good comedy from it

Nah, he's a comedian whose main schtick is surrealist stuff with a little bit of "wait, is that real?" mixed in www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlLA...

It has genuinely not been a solved problem since 2001 or even today (for a large corpus like the web), plus people came in with more use cases than keyword-based search!

Doesn't invalidate the larger point about A/B testing and SEO and ads enshittifying though.

Not denying some money people will get big scurred, but this is also the same company who hid their actual cloud revenue for a few years behind office before it caught up to actually be worth reporting, so if I’m an FT journalist I’m going with “we don’t know shit”

seems like why they made sure to put his name and “we haven’t verified anything” all over the article lol

Conversely, these things can definitely create pop slop with terrible sound mixing, bland lyrics, and no soul! So they can top the charts already! But I feel like people will gradually reject this as it saturates.
November 12, 2025 at 6:53 PM
An example that comes to mind is Cameron Winters, whose mind produces this interesting NYC garage indie rock -type revitalization-ish sound that acts somewhat as a remix but is genuinely fresh and has a “never heard before” quality to it. I’m just very bearish on an AI artist doing the same
November 12, 2025 at 6:52 PM
The untold part is that LLMs still, try as the labs might, can’t yet seem to do things like create new trends/sounds/etc. Maybe that changes, but so far the “stochastic parrot” moniker feels appropriate.
November 12, 2025 at 6:52 PM
I say this because I am naturally an optimist, so the opposite take is that this just further reinforces their power over humans because either (a) the AI stuff is just too good for most people to not consume, or (b) it’s good enough and people are lazy, or some other depressing reason
