My first reading tried to make FACT into a verb. As in, "Many countries seem to have political parties that don't fact very well."

My attraction to ABC (actually, ABCPlus) was wanting to produce fakebook-style lead sheets, but finding GUI-based notation software tedious. It's a task where just typing a letter or two is more efficient for me than selecting and positioning things visually.

I didn't get interested in emacs until I started writing songs. It has an abc-mode add-on that helps with a file format for representing music as text and can trigger external command line programs for MIDI or Postscript conversion.
