I'm not a lawyer, so I might be wrong about this, but I think under UK law public bodies can't sue for libel.

To be honest I'm pretty sure the best response from the BBC is that given in Arkell v Pressdram.

To be honest that sounds like a move that can be evaded by simply having one phone for buying alcohol and one for using Facebook and Instagram.

[Insert not-a-lawyer disclaimer here.] To be honest he can't sue over here either, as defamation claims have a 1 year time limit and the footage is from 2023. I believe they're attempting to sue in Florida, which should provide defences of lack of jurisdiction, 1st Amendment etc.

It's also a "the UK job market is completely wrecked thing right now" thing. My partner, a qualified bookkeeper, got laid off and it took her a year and a half to find another job. Everything she applied for had hundreds of applications.

Did the intervention by Sex Matters get picked up by the judge? I recall the GLP were objecting to it on the grounds of late submission.

Yeah she's a total wingnut but also a true believer. A mix of threats and promises will only make her more convinced she's right (which, in THIS ONE SPECIFIC SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES she is.)
