And the award for the most beautiful venue of the “Uncle Vincent” tour has to go to Dunbar’s Harbour Chapel!
One more performance of this beautiful play by @rebekahking.bsky.social tonight in Smailholm Village Hall.
Hopefully we’ll be taking Vincent on the road again next year though 🌻

Just back from a trip to Shetland. Think I’m in love with the place!

I would say please come to the evening of cocktails and art I’m hosting at Edinburgh’s Dovecot Gallery, but it’s already sold out!!
Can’t wait for an evening exploring one of my favourite groups of artists, along with some stories and delicious drinks…

Then after refulling with coffee and cake I enjoyed some of their Chinese New Year celebrations, including a dance performance, tour of the collection with a curator and a behind the scenes tour of the museum stores.
Perfect day for an art history geek!

Stunning retrospective of Everlyn Nicodemus‘s work at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art just now.

I love the chutzpah of her going to the National Museum of Tanzania and demanding they mount an exhibition of her work only six months after she’d started painting!

Settling in for the French Film Festival at my local cinema… 🎞️📽️
(love this place!)

Excellent exhibition of work by the late great John Byrne at The Fine Arts Society in Edinburgh just now.
It seems like anything he turned his hand to he excelled at, in his own quirky and unique way.
Fitting and fun tribute to one of my favourite artists.
It’s on til Christmas, catch it if you can!

A total masterclass of a performance! On the edge of my seat watching Robert Lloyd Parry perform his one-man show of M.R. James ghost stories tonight.
He’s on tour, so catch him if you get the chance.

There’s a stonking selection of Old Master drawings on display at the RSA at the moment, from the collection at Chatsworth.
Rubens, Rembrandt, Holbein, Durer and many others.
But my favourite was this beautiful drawing of a horse by Anthony van Dyck.

Have you been to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art for "Women in Revolt" yet?
An incredible overview of art and protest, with sadly so much still to fight for.
Take a mum or a granny and over a cuppa in the cafe get them to tell you all about what it was like for them to live through it!!

On my way home today I made a stop to say hello to Eduardo Paolozzi's Wealth of Nations, just as the sun was setting on it. My first time seeing him in his new home at the RBS office at Gogarburn.
Monumental and beautiful…

A terrific exhibition from Dovecot in Edinburgh.
"Stitched" showcases over 80 pieces spanning 200 years of Scotland's textile heritage.
It shines a light on embroidery (some of which is rarely if ever on show) and the incredible women that made them.
On until 18th January.
