The Will Carling thing made me realise something...

Something about the non-playing trip abroad worries me. There’s not been much noise about his injury, and if he were due to be playing soon presumably he’d be on the training ground. Hoping we don’t get a ‘Odegaard undergoes successful minor surgery’ update.

Surely it’s Masterrace?

Yeah, it’s justifiable to be morally opposed to the platforming of someone credibly accused of rape by multiple independent women. It has nothing to do with god(!). Anyway, I won’t be changing your mind nor you mine, so I’ll draw a line there.
November 10, 2025 at 6:59 PM
Yes, that can happen, but it’s only relevant if false accusations far outweigh genuine ones. Conversely, conviction rates for crimes against women are low, and reports are systematically under-investigated. People have a right to morally disagree with the club’s handling of the Partey situation.

I disagree with you there for a few reasons, but you’ve also misread my post, which is outlining a point I reject. Anyway, presumption of innocence is a legal concept required for fair trials but a genuinely bad principle for every day life, when we have a duty to make judgements on less evidence.

Moreover, that kind of attitude towards institutions that form part of people’s cultural identity is just an impractical and juvenile approach to politics. Shutting people down for holding a bit of nuance is weirdly intolerant and regressive.
November 10, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Right. However you come to the club it can become an entrenched part of your life that you can’t just decide to ditch. I’ve been Arsenal since I was four, a ST holder half my life, and the idea I can just expunge that from my life is just unrealistic.
November 10, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Yeah, I think that was my last encounter, where there was evidently no logical space for being an Arsenal fan and someone who opposes rape.
November 10, 2025 at 4:33 PM
But hey, I guess I won’t see their posts anymore because I hold the extremist viewpoint that sponsors and owners are different things.
November 10, 2025 at 4:22 PM
Also, the idea that “if you dare put a bit of nuance on a controversial topic then you are part of the problem” is really tiring and just feeds into the mindnumbing polarisation of views you get on social media.
November 10, 2025 at 4:20 PM
In the grand scheme of things, I don’t exactly care, but I always find it odd to use platforms like this to fish for responses and then just block those responses.

Decently morning. How much has the need to be perfect affected our ability to enjoy football? Since Pep and City normalised the 90+ point season, it feels like even conceding a goal feels like failure within Arteta’s team. Is the perfectionism too much for the players and the fans? #arsecastextra

I’m impressed he recovered from the head scratches. He basically achieved everything he wanted to, and he could just move on, recover his sanity, etc. Arteta definitely has the intensity for the fight, but who knows if the squad can ultimately maintain that to the end.
November 9, 2025 at 11:55 PM
Yeah, I thought the resolution of the charges would be his time to move on. And I don’t think any other manager will get the team to 100pt seasons with any budget.
November 9, 2025 at 11:41 PM
And I blame Pep!
November 9, 2025 at 11:29 PM
I don’t know. I look at Foden and wonder if he just chilled a bit after the treble. I wonder how many more seasons Saka and Odegaard can manage before they mentally need to move to a less demanding team. I love our team, but the stress of having to be perfect detracts from the enjoyment of it all.
November 9, 2025 at 11:29 PM
Clearly Arteta’s trying to make us impossible to beat, but even then days like Sunderland will happen, and goals will be conceded. I just can’t imagine how much concentration it requires for Arsenal to constantly give up so little.
