🎉 can’t wait to dig into this book - and to add it to my syllabus for philosophers-to-be. The glimpses I’ve seen are full of exciting ideas, and I’m sure the full thing is even richer. #sts #philsci

🙌 to @adrian-currie.bsky.social and @phieveigl.bsky.social for pulling this into existence

Really flattered & more than 6x overbooked for my last seminar at @univie.ac.at
I‘ll be leaving in august because UG-Novelle 2021/#Kettenvertragsregelung makes it impossible to stay - doesn‘t seem very efficient that folks who publish loads, deliver great teaching etc can’t stay at an institution

✨Really excited how well my students did in their exams✨ what changed - two times during each lecture (90mins), I gave them a question to discuss that would be „like“ an exam question - this prepped them well for how I ask questions & what I want to hear 💁🏼‍♀️

The far-right FPÖ supposedly wants to restrict ENG in academic research & make GER the sole research language in AT. Nothing says commitment to excellence like isolating Austrian science from the global community. Tell me you don’t care about scientific progress w/o telling me… 🫣 #ScienceSkepticism

Humor in Philosophy/Academia. Why do ppl laugh at really bad „jokes“ during talks?
- making the best of a situation
- shared laughter has its own worth
- find it actually funny

And here, together with @phieveigl.bsky.social, we put the ENCODE project in the context of attempts to conceptualize the genome. I share the frustration quoted in the condensates essay with viewing genomes in purely disembodied-informational terms. 4/4 link.springer.com/article/10.1...
