Current favorite word: apophenia. Similar to pareidolia, but broader.

Richer than Elon Musk: unlike him, I have enough.

We know so much, but do so little.

She was wrong once about that other thing, so we can never give her credit for any good thing she ever says or does, ever again. Because life is simple, you see. People are either all right, always, or all wrong, forever. Nuance and complexity are for moral relativists. Hope that clears things up.

We fucked with their lives in inexcusable ways, subjecting them unjustly to our inhumane for-profit prison system. They shouldn't have to pay for anything upfront, and we should show, in practical terms, our remorse for our government's conduct and our support for justice. But you can sit this out.

It's almost as if we've internalized the algorithms of social media, which reward/incentivize outrage more than every other human response.
Leaders say "The standard you walk past is the standard you accept."
Weiss and her ilk say, "Standards reduce profitability; lose 'em."

Yep. Same as it ever was. Some of our tax dollars has gone to pay members of Congress who have long blocked reasonable gun control. Some has gone to pay for unprovoked wars of aggression. And some has gone to SNAP benefits and other good things. 🤷‍♂️

I’d much rather pay damages to these good people than to allow $40 billion to go to prop up some clown in Argentina.

Excellent. I hope it doesn’t cost them a dime. If it does, there are millions of Americans who would rally to their side with a GoFundMe campaign to pay their legal fees.

It's SO accurate: GOP "Lucy" doesn't even position the ball as if it's ready to kick. She gives Dem "Charlie Brown" NO reason to think that the ball will be there when he runs and kicks. But he goes through the motions anyway, and Lucy predictably spikes the ball into his prone body, celebrating.

There's an accusation by Zhou against Renner. He denies it. I think we need some evidence, at least, before conclusively condemning him. If it's true, he sucks. But we should still do the "innocent until proven guilty" thing.

If you happen to be in ABQ the first Friday in May, check out First Friday Fractals at the planetarium in the Natural History Museum.

More importantly, why is this to be the last Gathering of Nations powwow?

Mine is slightly more than tripling, with my deductible increasing by $1000 and maximum out-of-pocket maximum raised by $1500 (to almost $10k).
I really have to weigh my options going forward. Won't be eligible for Medicare for 2 more years - if it's still solvent by then.

One of the things I dislike most about AI is that it makes me question beauty online. YMMV, but it's important to me too know what is and isn't real. I have a preference for the former, but can acknowledge that AI imagery, like autotune and other forms of fabrication, may have uses.
