finally got my custom plates from the fabrication people (after paying import fees, so, even more expensive than expected) and threw this together to test it out… so far so good!

guess I gotta finish making something to put this in (after I handwire the switches and program the mc)

this probably doesn’t look substantially different from whatever I last showed, but: rail and rod has been dry fit into the new cyberdeck print, and the new innards has all the heat inserts allowing me to screw it into the case and mount the keyboard

just need to finish the face, then electronics

got some lora/meshtastic things from lilygo to start playing with (still waiting on my heltec order, eta monday)

womp, unsurprised though …maybe one day

btop and fastfetch ok

no kde sadly but risc-v board functional! reporting battery charge, connected to wifi, slow as shit but it’s a computer

some frustrations because all four usb-c ports are NOT created equal on this thing - seems only the back two accept power in, and only back left actually does video out - wrestled with that this whole time butttt

first issue with deck-ifying this: it’s about 204mm and pushing my current design as large as my a1 mini can handle, my interior is only about 190mm

need to stack, but there’s not much play with this connector - a u-shaped/180 degree female to male adaptor would work but that may not exist

oh hello delivery driver, and hello risc-v mainboard… time to play

or I can reboot in cli and run cmatrix, basically a hacker now

restored hackberry screen functionality

all I did was plug an hdmi in and disable i2c, so I’m pretty sure that wasn’t playing nicely with this thing’s pcb or screen connector or something like that

still don’t love this os but dark mode and some matrix code is a small improvement

picked up a hackberry when they went up on elecrow because they weren’t too expensive/I’m a consumerist whore and I wanted to play with it

it’s actually nicer in person than I expected, case print quality is superb, screen is sharp, keyboard great as expected

pi02 inside but otherwise I like it!

it's looking decent though, maybe one day

gonna need a small revision but, for a first pass, my deck’s mount panel for io came out pretty good

slowly dialing in the innards for the cyberdeck, figuring out where I want to mount things and if/how they'll fit

just figured out the most compact way I can cram in the battery I chose for this in such a way that I can also put in this power switch and make the charging port accessible, I think

cyberdeck v0.2 wip - scrapped some post-print modularity for more solidity

decided on a stripped pi400 under the 40% keyboard to save room and a small 5000mah battery for portability (probably daisy chain to a bigger one or connected to main power for serious use)

regarding i2c and gpio passthrough, this is the official m.2 hat with the included spacers and pin riser

like, this seems intentional, but mechanically I could use a different gpio riser and get access to the pins above the hat… but is that “allowed” or would that cause a problem? no idea

ok, so... this did not work, apparently my math is horrible, my tolerances were off, it's bowed and not connecting along the bottom (hence broken tabs) and all the seams make it look shoddy as heck... but it is soo sturdy thanks to the threaded rod and aluminum rail

love the idea, not the execution

bought a whole kilo of this aggressively orange filament just so I could use like 6g printing this flipper zero case

iterated on a case design for a small tablet-like cyberdeck thing based on a design by Michal Kalisz: veezenart.com/projects/aoD...

not much of a 3d modeller yet, but I'm learning

this should fit a 5" display, but not much else... pi zero 2, ig, and maybe stuff a battery in?
