A walk around Trevose Head in Cornwall yesterday with stunning views all the way around. 2 each of Clouded Yellows, Painted Lady, Red Admiral and Small Tortoishell plus lots of whites and a Rush Veneer Moth. 5 Wheatear along the cliffs and 2 confiding Chough by the lighthouse. Beautiful spot.

In Padstow for the week and just arrived tonight. Didn’t bring moth trap but this one landed on me in the house. Madder Pearl (Mecyna Asinalis) I believe, a new moth for me. #teammoth

Great to see Redstarts back at the Hole of Horcum with 8 yesterday. Same number of Wheatear plus 2 Raven, Green Woodpecker and 20+ Willow Warbler. Also 6 Curlew on the moor and 30 Fieldfare still a sign of winter. @northyorksbirds.bsky.social @northyorkmoors.org.uk #ukbirds #northyorkshirebirds.

Always nice to get Garganey in the spring with this pair at Filey Dams yesterday. Very early Hobby high over Wykeham Lakes and Merlin very low through Potter Brompton. Also good to see Wheatear finally back on Levisham Moor this evening. @northyorksbirds.bsky.social #yorkshirebirding

Long staying Red-Necked Grebe still at Wykeham Lakes today. Plenty of Crossbills in the woodlands and Dipper in Dalby. Male Pintail was an unusual visitor to Staindale Lake, Dalby. #northyorksbirds #ukbirding @nybirdnews.bsky.social

Snowy walk this morning in Lockton, up to 70 birds at the garden feeder this morning with 20+ Chaffinch. Common Buzzard, GS Woodpecker and Snipe on David’s Lane.

No sign of the Arctic Warbler at Saltwick, Whitby this afternoon but this low flying Great White Egret following the coast south was some compensation. #ukbirding #yorkshirebirding

Over 150 Fieldfares feeding together on the outskirts of the village today, including this distinctive leuistic individual. Plus around 50 Redwing and 30 Yellowhammer. Tawny Owl very vocal this evening. #ukbirding #birds

7 Tundra Bean Geese at Low Marishes was a highlight at the weekend. Plus Great White Egrets getting ever more regular. The RT Diver was the long staying inland bird at Wykeham. There also seems to be a few large Brambling gatherings this winter.
