All about birds. butterflies, moths, walking, North York Moors National Park and travel.
Given few opportunities lately to get up to the Whitby coast it was great today to get a couple of hours there. Yellow-Browed Warbler at Kettleness the highlight plus plenty of Redwings, Blackbirds and Goldcrests. Plus 2 Blackcap and 2 Chiffs still around.

In Padstow for the week and just arrived tonight. Didn’t bring moth trap but this one landed on me in the house. Madder Pearl (Mecyna Asinalis) I believe, a new moth for me. #teammoth

No sign of the Arctic Warbler at Saltwick, Whitby this afternoon but this low flying Great White Egret following the coast south was some compensation. #ukbirding #yorkshirebirding

A morning at Kettleness started with Ring Ouzel amongst decent numbers of Blackbird, Song Thrush and Redwing. Then whilst scoping a small group of Terns from the cliff top, a Red-Rumped Swallow flew past in the scope foreground! Birding always needs a nice dose of luck! #yorkshirebirding #ukbirding

This Neglected Rustic was a garden first for me, given where I live in Lockton (VC62) not a complete surprise.

7 Tundra Bean Geese at Low Marishes was a highlight at the weekend. Plus Great White Egrets getting ever more regular. The RT Diver was the long staying inland bird at Wykeham. There also seems to be a few large Brambling gatherings this winter.

Nice to see Little Egrets becoming more of a regular sighting now with a single yesterday between Pickering and Thornton Le Dale. Plus hundreds of Fieldfare and Redwing in the flooded fields.
