Claude Rains and Richard Burton - two of the finest voices in cinema - share a birthday. They also both did great work under bandages...

#NowPlaying PFM, "Chocolate Kings". The first PFM album in which the lyrics were first written directly in English instead of being translated from Italian. Strong material, excellent playing ... but I really can't get on with Bernardo Lanzetti's vocals, like an Americanised Gabriel.

Many thanks Justin John Doherty for this truly beautiful book on Don’t Look Now.

Magnificent pizza at Ae Botti. Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan on the jukebox. A top night out!

#NowPlaying Le Orme, "Felona e Sorona 2016". Both the Italian and English versions (with lyrics by Peter Hamill) recorded by 2016 line-up. Both Tagliapietra and Pagliuca are long gone and although Michele Bon fills in nicely on vocals and Michi dei Rossi drums up a storm, it all feels unnecessary.

#NowPlaying Back to Hildur Guðnadóttir again, and the OST to "Chernobyl".

Claustrophobic, unearthly and utterly haunting, sometimes recalling the bleak, chilling beauty of Tangerine Dreams's "Zeit".

"If you could hear radioactivity, what would it sound like?" I think we know, now...

#NowPlaying Hildur Guðnadóttir "Where To From". Atmospheric, dark, compelling. Must check out more of her work.

#NowPlaying OST "Terrore nello Spazio" (Gino Marinuzzi jr.) Enthralling mixture of orchestral music and electronica. Like Bava's film, it's years ahead of its time.

#NowListening Steely Dan, "Everything Must Go". This one doesn't have a great rep, but I rather like it. Laid back, bluesy, Sunday afternoon listening; and the title track is a fitting, elegiac end to it all. Thanks Walter. Thanks Donald.

#NowPlaying Steely Dan, "Two Against Nature". Twenty years have passed and yet you really wouldn't know it. The Dan, as fine, laid-back, and modestly funky as ever. A good one!
