Pentagon produced new cleanup timetables at end of March, pushing back time frame for collecting info on the extent of contamination & studies to evaluate cleanup options for some installations by nearly a decade. #PFAS Like they don't have the $$.. 😠

If @governor.ny.gov does not sign the bill before the end of 2025, this inaction will signal a veto and bill S1548/A1502 will not become law. She must sign it as a continuation of standing up for NYS women. Seriously Governor, we're #PFAS polluted enough.

The four-bill package would require the FDNY by 2028 to phase out and find alternatives to firefighting protective clothing and other equipment containing #PFAS. "The least we can do is make sure that the gear meant to keep them safe isn’t slowly poisoning them.”

Studies have shown exposure to PFNA (C9) can lead to various health effects including cancer, liver damage, immune system suppression, hormonal disruptions, and positively correlated with miscarriage... but nothing to see here, huh? (long-chain #PFAS are more bioaccumulative)

The EPA is moving to weaken that rule—including rescinding the limits for 4 of those #PFAS chemicals & delaying limits on the other two. The all but certain result? More of these chemicals will find their way into our drinking water, and stay there.
