At Taylor and Arkansas the sidewalk ends. No ramps. No signage. We just decided it isn't important to prioritize sidewalks as the DC-managed land connects to the NPS land.

@ddotdc.bsky.social had positioned school crossing guards here to help families cross. Due to issues such as low pay and short hours staffing has been an issue and no crossing guards have been here for several weeks. DC could fund street safety this budget cycle if they believe it is a priority.

We know how to make New Hampshire safer but the District has tabled any plans that would slow drivers down here believing violent drivers will react negatively if they can't quickly drive through our neighborhood. We need to rethink our priorities.

Also within the past few days, one block south on NH another driver lost control of their car and destroyed a parking sign after coming over the curb and onto the sidewalk.

Second, DDOT is looking to install a traffic signal at New Hampshire, Quincy, and 8th right by the Metro station. This notorious intersection tends to be one of the most dangerous.
