Will Trump transform America into an authoritarian state? Signs point to yes. One thing's abundantly clear: He will misuse the government to settle the smallest of grievances.

And thus we find ourselves living in Petty Little Bitchistan. This account will provide occasional reports from the field.
We've been quiet lately, due to being busy, not for lack of content. But this one jumped out.

Can't get much pettier than retaliating against newborn babies and their parents when you're mad that the governor of the state didn't bend her knee to the man who thinks he's the king.
Yesterday, the Social Security Administration reportedly terminated a long-standing nationwide policy under which parents can apply for a Social Security number (SSN) for their newborns in the hospital--in Maine, and Maine alone.

Today, SSA reversed it. 🧵

What a petty little bitch. It must be a requirement for the Trump DoJ.

It is undeniably petty to boast about how your handpicked Kennedy Center board selected you unanimously as Board Chair—and weird to do it in the third person.

The Associated Press, whose news four billion people see every day, was barred from President Musk’s Oval Office press conference yesterday because the White House is mad that the AP hasn’t embraced the term “Gulf of America.” Petty, petty, petty.
AP says it was blocked from Oval Office event over Gulf of Mexico policy
"It is alarming that the Trump administration would punish AP for its independent journalism," AP said.

This EO is nothing but petty little bitchiness and bluster from end to end. Trump got smacked *hard* on this one: On their way outta town, the Biden Administration locked in a bunch of new agreements to protect federal civil servants, and there’s not a goddamn thing Trump can do about it.

Not just NBC. The New York Times is being replaced by the New York Post, and NPR is being replaced by Breitbart. Petty little bitchiness at its finest.
NBC News is being kicked out of its space in the Pentagon and replaced by OANN.

Nope! No whining allowed. The buck stops with the guy in charge.

“Trump directly blames the DC crash on DEI, pointing the finger at Pete Buttigieg for running the FAA ‘right into the ground with this diversity’ and saying that the FAA under Buttigieg ‘determined that the workforce was too white.’”

Resurfacing British writer Nate White's bracing pummeling of Trump the first time he took office.

Residents of PLB may relate particularly well to White's memorable description of Trump as "a Picasso of pettiness."

“Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response:

The petty little bitchy response to the bishop who deigned to preach the gospel… continues.

Not only can Trump not abide being reminded of the existence of mercy while in church, Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-OK) has actually introduced a resolution to condemn Bishop Budde’s plea to Trump.

This just in from Petty Little Bitchistan. To be clear, the very-much-a-real-Episcopal-bishop Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, speaking in her church’s cathedral, asked Trump to “have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now,” and our small, small President couldn’t take it. Mercy me.

Trump published a proclamation pretending that he has authority to disregard 4 U.S.C. § 7(m) to justify flying the flag full-height for his inauguration. Nope: "Shall" means "shall," man.

Congress gave you the power to lower the flag to half-staff to honor others, not to raise it to honor yourself.

Trump stayed up late his first night in office to make sure that he fired renowned humanitarian José Andrés from the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition.

Petty little bitchiness at its best. Plus! Andrés submitted his resignation a week ago. You can't fire him, Donnie—he quit.
