Anybody from the US would love to purchase from a local art quilter there (to make shipping less pricy)?

You've never seen such artistic quilts before! 🎨

She also has pillows, tote bags, and mugs with her designs, perfect for a smaller budget.

Any support helps 🙏

"Do NOT slip your synopsis under the door of the ladies’ loo I am occupying."

When literary agents get real 😅

(To be clear: I read this somewhere, I wasn't the one receiving this message from an agent. 😆)

The ultimate card of publishing: "It's a subjective business."

It's like saying "BUT," and everything said before becomes pointless.

This terrifies me and gives me hope at the same time. 👇

It took nearly 20 years 🤯 for Caroline to get her book published.

Several drafts, her agent ghosting her, having two kids and... I don't know, just living life.

I have so much respect for her will and ability to trust the process.
'Eliza’s story captivated me and wouldn’t let go. I couldn’t explain why, but I felt compelled to bring it to life.'

Author Caroline Madden on the long but ultimately successful journey to publication of her delightful new novel, The Marriage Vendetta.

Why join a beta reader program? 👀

Thanks to a critique, I think I have the powerful first line I've always wanted but couldn't figure.

Funny part? The sentence was always there in the text, just not as the first line. 🙈😅

Yeah. Writing shouldn't be solitary.

"Many food companies have pledged to buy meat from slower-growing chickens in the US, but few have followed through..."

👉 "pledged to buy meat from slower-growing chickens" That's a THING? I can't believe people still buy into the myth of more and bigger always being better.
Most people have an inkling that animals have it bad on factory farms and slaughterhouses, but most have no idea that arguably the biggest welfare problem is invisible -- it's the animals' genes: www.vox.com/future-perfe...

You have a life that no one else has lived. Your point of view is unique and nobody else can tell your stories. This is both heavy and uplifting. Think about it the next time you're doubting yourself as a writer and asking if your story is worth fighting for. #writers #writercommunity #querying #art

Transparency post: I've got an agent reply today, on the 21st of March, to a query I sent on the 8th of October. Half a year of waiting for a "no". If you are querying too, just know: you're not alone and this is freaking hard. Now: "shake it off" & "thank u, next". #querying #writingcommunity

This is a short, yet powerful thread of actionable tips for writers who know the challenge of balancing busy lives and the dream of getting published 👇
A lot of writers are very busy people with day jobs, families and other commitments. Here are 4 top tips (from

Her Substack is filled with goodies, like this one on synopsis writing. The one about why she rejects 90% of queries is awesome, too, related to how you should summarise the story concept in your query. She always brings real-life examples! That's golden! 🏆 #writingcommunity #writers #querying
New Substack on synopses just dropped... 👇 Nearly everyone hates writing them, but here are some top tips (with an example) to help you along the way. open.substack.com/pub/kesialup...

Food for thought for fantasy writers.👇
I am seeing way too much princess fantasy in my queries. While I do love a royal fantasy, I think we are seeing market oversaturation and I would love to see more fantasy that isn't just concerned with palace intrigue, princesses getting their stabby on, and royal machinations.

Artist friends, how are we holding up? This was an... interesting (?) move from Society6, for the lack of a better world. Many are asking what the hell is going on? Instead, in this article, I'm telling you what's the lesson here and what you can do moving on, if you are affected. I hope it helps.👇
It hasn't been 24 hours since Society6 emails started landing in creators' inboxes. They're shutting artist profiles by the dozen. Are you affected? Were you surprised? We show you 8 alternatives + our thoughts on what the lesson is here 👇

Society6 is shutting down artist profiles and quite frankly, there's nothing you can do if you're affected. Except, to try another POD alternative. See our recommendations and what we think about what...

A quick, educative, and enjoyable thread for writers👇 + their "Showing IS Telling, but with Style" article (also linked below) with the theatre metaphor 🎭 will stick with me possibly forever. Highly recommend! #writingcommunity #amwriting #amediting
"Show, don't tell" is pretty vague advice. It's also not that helpful since you can't show all the time. So what is "good" telling?

It all comes down to how you reveal narrative context.
